Our Sun’s turbulent magnetic activity is responsible for both sustaining and destroying conditions of life in the Solar System. Hence understanding the physical processes governing such turbulent magnetic activity is of key importance. In this talk I will discuss our current understanding of solar magnetic activity. What we know and what we do not know? Additionally I will also talk about other sun-like stars and where does the Sun fit in the bigger picture. Is our Sun a special star? Or is it just an average star? And finally, how does that impacts the conditions of life on any orbiting planet.
